Moonshot Theatre Leaders Roundtable

Every year each Chicago theatre company makes a set of highly consequential, speculative, stressful forecasts and decisions that live at the intersection of art and business: What plays will we produce? As critical as these foundational decisions are, this challenging process tends to be an isolated one, rarely discussed within the theatre community. We invite you to join us in an intimate theatre community roundtable to do just that on Tuesday morning, January 29 from 10:30 - 12:30. The meeting will take place at the Rivendell Theatre office, 5775 N. Ridge Rd. in Edgewater.

This roundtable is inspired by a unique and innovative new research project, Moonshot, a careful study of how Chicago theatres do this work and what might help to do it better. We have planned this session with advice from leaders of two companies, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble and The New Colony, already participating in Moonshot as pilot case studies, as well as Remy Bumppo Theatre Company. We will facilitate the session and be keenly interested in what you wish to share. But this is primarily an opportunity for a small group of curious and creative theatre makers to talk about one of their most challenging and important tasks--searching, assessing, rejecting, embracing, and developing scripts and ideas for productions--each selection its own high stakes moonshot.
